Small businesses and side hustles are nothing new to RAHS students, they’re a fun way for students to earn some extra cash, or a way for people to use their skills in a way that can benefit them.
With the many students having their own businesses, there are a variety of things being sold, including nails, clothes, cookies, brownies, etc.
Layla Venne (9) started her business early this year selling antique and unique pieces of jewelry.
She says that while owning your own business can be a struggle, there are many good things about it. “I like that I’m basically my own boss and I have control over what I’m selling.”
It’s very common for people to start a social media account as an easier way to promote their business and contact customers.
Some students run their businesses during the school day, but others do it on their own time. While balancing a business with school can be difficult, students have found a way to get both done.
Kylie Rowan (9) says, “Honestly, school definitely helps with things. That’s where pretty much all my clients come from.”
Rowan started selling nails earlier in the school year. She said that owning her own business has helped her practice real world skills and be more independent.
