One phenomenon going around meme culture currently is the lighthearted debate on whether Yaoi or Yuri is “better”.
The origin of Yaoi and Yuri are Japanese words that mean same-sex romance in anime or manga. Yaoi being the equivalent of boys and Yuri being the equivalent for girls.
The modern use of these words are now used for any same-sex romance, synonymous with terms such as Boy-Love and Girl-Love.
