Most RAHS students spend much of their time during the week here at school. Many students also arrive early or leave late for activities like sports or clubs. Students at RAHS do a diverse range of activities outside of school.
Students Kayla Kane, (10), and Elena Wilson, (9), enjoy artistic activities outside of school. Kane shows a passion for musical theater while Wilson has an interest in dance. Both actress and dancer share their love for these hobbies.
Wilson explained why dance is a huge passion of hers and the things she enjoys about it . She expressed that the community and friends she dances with are a very important part of her love for dance. She said, “The community and how I can express myself through my dance.”
Wilson also added a meaningful memory she has from dancing. She shared, “The first time I was doing a pointe dance on stage with all the advanced dancers.”
Kane enjoys spending time in the spring and summer at Ashland Productions . Kane shared her first initial interest in theater. She said, “Because I did modeling for a while, it felt the same as doing theater like dancing and singing.” She clarified that since modeling and theatre both involve performing and that they are similar hobbies in that way.
Kane elaborated on her passion and why she wanted to keep going in theater. She said,“ I like the organization, I like the structure of it , as well as the community and how we are united. and I also like the singing, especially the harmonization.”
She added, “theater has made other skills easier, especially public speaking”.
It is abundantly clear that there are many passionate people enjoying activities beyond academics, school clubs or school sports. These activities have great meaning and bring lots of joy to their participants.
Those who participate in these activities gain life long memories and skills. While RAHS has many great sports and clubs, it is never too late to try something new outside of school.
