The anticipation is building as Roseville Area High School prepares to host its prom on Saturday, April 25. This year’s theme, Viva Las Vegas, has Students buzzing with enthusiasm, especially three standout students who are eagerly sharing their plans and hopes for promises to be a memorable evening. These young women embody the true spirit of prom season in our community wiht their preparations for the tradition.
Maika Nguyen, a senior who just started her prom preparations on April 9th, shared her excitement about the upcoming event. “I started today by buying a dress, talking with my friends about the plans,” Nguyen said.
She believes prom is a high school experience that offers her a chance to socialize in an elegant setting, after the everyday grind. She expressed her hope to hear popular songs that everyone sings along to and to elevate the vibe with energetic music. “Most excited to see friends dressed up just enjoying being there,” she added.
Social media has a big role in her preparations, inspiring her dress choices and giving ideas for pre- and post-prom activities.
Ayan Jabril, a junior and also in the prom committee, stated that her group began their preparations as early as late September. “We’ve done a lot, but deciding on the theme was the hardest part because there was so much great feedback,” she explained.
For Jabril, prom is a culmination of her school journey, a rare night where her peers feel unburdened. She’s especially forward, dancing to lively music that gets everyone involved. “It’s about energy, singing, just having fun with friends,” she said with a smile, recalling how last year’s prom was one of her favorites.
Jabril (11) also talked about their favorite traditions and what they’re most looking forward to seeing everyone dressed up and capturing those special moments with friends. Jabril recalled last year’s experience, emphasizing how it was to share such a luxurious night with friends. Both agree that prom is more than just a dance; it’s a celebration of friendship growth and the memories made along the way. They’re eager to make ones, soaking up every second of the night’s festivities.
Aryana Hale, Junior, is a member of the prom committee who helped planned this year’s festivities. She shared, “We’ve been planning since October. I booked my dress in December because I wanted something truly special, and social media really helped visualize everything from makeup to accessories. I even picked out my bouquet. It made me so happy just how we all look.”
Hale also expressed thoughts on what prom signifies in her high school life, “Prom reflects how hard we worked all year. We put so much effort into picking out our dresses to planning the perfect night. It shows that dedication makes events even more meaningful. I’m excited to see who wins prom royalty. It’s always fun that everyone is together.”
Jabril (11), Hale (11), and Nguyen (12) shared their hopes for the night’s entertainment, Hale for her love for 80s and 90s R&B music, hoping to dance to some of her favorite tunes: “I grew up listening to that music, so I’d be thrilled if they played some at prom.
Meanwhile, Jabril shared their excitement about participating in classic prom customs like taking photos, enjoying a chocolate, and the anticipation of prom royalty. These traditions, they said, made the event even more special and memorable.
