The RAHS Girls’ Basketball Team is poised to compete for a place in the state tournament. They are currently competing in section playoffs. This week, they will have either one or two games, playing Champlin Park on Wednesday and an unknown opponent on Friday, assuming they win on Wednesday. If they win these games, they will compete in state starting next week!

The team has earned the home-court advantage for their game on Wednesday, meaning that the game will be held at RAHS! The game will be at 7:00, and students can purchase tickets in person at the game for $5.00.

RAHS girls’ basketball is very talented as a team, but they also have a surprising number of standout players. Some people to watch out for at the upcoming games are all-conference award winners Drew Johnson (#10), Lily Peper (#15), and Kendall Barnes (#1), as well as all-conference honorable mention recipients Mira Jackson (#11), Lucy Sundberg (#22), and Annabelle Boone (#23).

Sophomore Anna Parker describes the team as “small… but mighty,” and notes that next year’s team will be even smaller. She says with the seniors leaving, they will have to work hard to continue their success for next season.

She notes that some of the tallest girls on the team are leaving after this season, and their strength as a team will shift more toward three-pointers next year.

The team has found extraordinary success this season and is looking forward to a successful end to post-season play. The team thrives with a big audience, and they always appreciate students and families coming to watch them play.
