Roseville boys soccer defeats Woodbury as they head into sections

Roseville Boys soccer beat Woodbury by a score of 2-0 to finish the regular season.

According to MN Soccer Hub, the goals were scored by junior forward Leo Miller and junior forward Youssef Abdallah. Miller’s goal was his first of the season. Abdallah is the team’s top scorer. His goal against Woodbury was his 15th of the season.

The Royals have a very strong team this year. According to MN soccer hub, Roseville is only the second team to beat them this season. The only other team to beat this year is their bitter rivals East Ridge. The Raptors beat the Royals by a score of 3-1.

The Roseville boys soccer JV team won their final game of the season away against Woodbury as well.

Goals from Arjuna Herbst (11) and Hector Garcia Landaverde (11) gave the Raiders a 2-1 win over the Royals.

The JV ended the year with a record of 11-2-1. Their only two losses coming against Centennial and Irondale.

Senior defender Sam Witte said the goal going into the game against the Royals was “to keep the ball on the ground and win the game in the end.”

Senior midfielder Abdissa Effa said after the game, “we won, but we did not play our best.”

According to MN soccer hub, the varsity team will have their first section game on October 10th. The raiders compete in section 5AA. They are the number two seed in the section this season.

According to MN soccer hub, they will face Spring Lake Park at home in their first section game of the season. The panthers ended their regular season with a record of 1-14, their only win of the season against Elk River in the Northwest Suburban Conference. The panthers ended up finishing bottom of the Northwest Suburban Conference with a conference record of 1-12. The panthers most heavy defeat of the season came against Blake on August 24th. The game finished with a 1-10 win for Blake.

According to MN soccer hub, the other games in the first round of section 5AA are Park Center vs St. Paul Harding, Champlin Park vs Mounds View, and St. Paul Central vs Irondale.

Park Center is the number 1 seed. Harding is the number 8 seed. Champlin Park is the number 4 seed. Mounds View is the number 5 seed. Central is the number 3 seed. Irondale is the number 6 seed. Those are seedlings according to MN soccer hub.
