Doctor Who: The Church On Ruby Road (2023)
The Doctor Who Christmas special has been a staple of British television since 2005, becoming something that the entire United Kingdom can sit down and enjoy together.
While I am not British, I do fancy myself a Doctor Who fan. The story follows Nucti Gatwa in his debut the 15th Doctor, who finds a new companion in Ruby Sunday (played by Millie Gibson) and tries to stop a group of goblins from eating an infant child. While those aforementioned goblins were absolutely cringe worthy, they were at least very camp.
The emotional beats definitely landed, and the performances were all great. While the special may not have been perfect, I nevertheless felt like it effectively set up Nucti’s debut season; a season I am quite excited to cover when it airs this spring.
