Summer is so fun—freedom from school, homework, and high school drama—but it can also be exceptionally boring when all you have to do is sit in your hot bedroom, endlessly scrolling through your phone.
So, here are 15 things to do to cure summer boredom this year—from totally free to a little bit more pricey.

- Pack a picnic and go to a park. You can do this alone or with friends! Bring a deck of cards, board games, or something to doodle with.
- Go on a long bike ride or walk and create a bingo card of things to look for. You can only go home if you get a BINGO.
- Set up a scavenger hunt for you and your friends around your neighborhood or a park.
- Plant a tree or pick up trash at your local park or neighborhood. You can also volunteer for organizations that interest you.
- Write a short script and turn it into a movie or perform it as a play.
$10-$20
- Learn how to knit/sew/crochet and make something you’ve always wanted.
- Go on a self date! Buy coffee or lunch, take yourself on a shopping spree, or go to a park and read or draw.
- Do a craft—make a keychain, craft something out of clay, or paint on a T-shirt or a pair of jeans.
- Have a potluck with your friends—each person gets the food they want and then everyone can split it up and share.
- Go to a thrift store and pick out an outfit for your friends that they have to style/wear out.

- Take a day trip to another town. You can do this with friends, or by yourself. Drive there if you have a car or take a train/bus. Then find something to do in that town that you don’t have in your own city, like going to a local vintage store or coffee shop.
- Re-do and rearrange your bedroom. Move the furniture you already have around or get new decorations and put them up.
- Go out and have a fancy dinner with friends. Get all dressed up and make a night out of it.
- Learn how to play an instrument you’ve always wanted to play. Even better if you already own the instrument, because then this is free!
- Go to a record store and pick out a random album from an artist you’ve never listened to (You can do this with CDs, too, if you don’t own a record player).
Have a great summer!
