RAHS students have just registered for their classes next year and many popular choices have arisen in the process.
Many classes offered at RAHS are known for their entertaining and engaging nature, some examples might be Intro to Sociology, and Art of Film.
Although these classes are fun and more hands-on it doesn’t mean they’re necessarily popular choices.
Students prefer classes that are easy-going. Tanner Brenden (11) said, “I’m taking Senior Foods next year which I think will be pretty laid back.”
One of the most notable characteristics that makes a class popular is a low-key atmosphere.
Another sought after attribute is community. Brenden added, “I’m excited for Senior Foods because I think it will be more connected since it’s all seniors and people I’ve known for longer.”
A reoccurring trend for liked classes is that it’s mostly electives with a chill ambience, and filled with people you know. However, this isn’t the case for everyone.
Dave Riemermann (11) shared, “I’m mostly excited for my statistics class next year. I like math a lot so I feel it will challenge me.”
Although mainly electives have been popularized by students, core classes like math are also highly awaited.
New graduation rules requiring a financial literacy credit has lead to an influx of student’s registering for classes in the FACS and Business departments. School Counselor, Julie Levine stated, “There are graduation requirements starting next year so there is an increase in Managing Your Money and Living on Your Own classes.”
There are a wide variety of classes being taken next year and there is really no evidence of a specific winner. Levine added, “Many classes are proving to be popular but the FACS department and specifically the foods class are the most popular classes students registered for. Today’s Chef is historically very popular.”
