At RAHS yearbook class is year round, and is available for every grade. It is designed for students to learn how to: take photos, design, and edit. The class is an elective class in which student can earn college credit.
One of the most difficult tasks of the yearbook is making sure everyone in the school is included in the book, and making sure every topic and trend in school is being covered and placed into the yearbook.
Senior Deven Shrestha recommends taking yearbook. He said, “people should join because it’s a fun experience and you get to create something you’ll hold and remember for a long time.”
Shrestha also pointed out that one of the best perks of being in yearbook is the media pass. “I can go to any school event for free with it.”
Students also get a discount on the yearbook itself and hold opportunities for free prizes and volunteer opportunities.
In class they do a lot of learning and practicing design work and editing skills necessary for perfecting the yearbook. Christina Owens, the yearbook adviser said, “We aim to include everyone in the school so there is a lot of stress but it is very rewarding seeing your product in front of 1000’s of students.”
Many students do not know about yearbook as a course offering. Senior Evan Letts said, “I had no clue students were in charge of making the yearbook that’s cool.”
Yearbook class provides students a chance to understand more about what is going on in the school. From sport activities to what goes on in classes, community events etc; yearbook covers everything.
Letts said after hearing about what happens in yearbook he wishes he could have joined earlier and would recommend students to join as early as they can.
Students who like photography, being social and are interested in editing and design should look into yearbook as it covers all those topics.
