The newly released e.l.f Glow Reviver Melting Lip Balm priced at $9, is challenging the more expensive, TikTok-famous Summer Friday, which wears a $24 price tag. E.l.f.’s new product has been compared to Summer Friday and is being called its “dupe” from the applicator to the shades.

The main difference from Summer Friday is the price difference and accessibility, because e.l.f doesn’t limit how much can be bought at once.

My first use was with the shade ‘Yummy Gummy’, a pinkish purple color and a sweet scent, like a sweet raspberry gummy.

The product is easy to apply, not messy, lasts about two hours, and leaves a slight stain of color. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes the company, and there are many colors to choose from. It appears well on each shade of skin.

The e.l.f lip balm is vegan and cruelty-free, with six shades all available in a squeeze tube and a clear, easy-to-use tip to apply the product.

Jazmin Anderson, grade 10, said, “There’s a lot of product in it for $9 compared to e.l.f’s other lip products.” She also said they smell really good and are very colorful.

An influencer on TikTok by the name of immbunny did a review and comparison of e.l.f vs Summer Friday. After opening up e.l.f’s lip balm and trying it on, she said, “Same exact fill at 15 grams … They both have this squishy top…this is for sure a dupe.”

A more well-known influencer on TikTok with a higher following by the name of iamvietney tried on shade ‘Wild Cherry’ and claimed “This is probably going to be e.l.f’s biggest product,” and “it does feel very soft and velvety.”

The lip balm was well made and matches the original Summer Friday lip balm good, the only con is it’s a little hard to squeeze out. I think teenagers and older people would like the product; it’s unharmful and can give a pop of color to anyone with a glossy finish.
