RAHS students and teachers alike recommend taking a pottery class at RAHS to fulfill the fine arts credit requirement because of the creativity these classes offer.
RAHS offers many classes to fulfill the fine arts credit and the pottery classes offered include: Intro to Clay and Studio Clay.
Students at RAHS said these classes help with creativity. Marcell Cross, 12th grader said, “I feel like it’s broaden my view of creativity.”
Other students such as Damion Oehlke 12th grader said, “even if you’re not really into art, [pottery class] is an easy way to get into it and just be creative.”
These classes can be a very good outlet for creativity in students from all different grades. Talia Saum 10th grader said, “I decided to take this class because I enjoy being creative.”
Another student Ryley Whitwood (10) said, “I would recommend this class too because it’s a good outlet for creativity.”
Not only do students recommend these classes to others, the clay teacher Paul Moeller said, “I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for students to try something they’ve never tried before.”
Moeller also went on to say, “working three dimensionally is fun. It gives you another way to think about things and I love that kids can walk away with something they can use to decorate or even give as a gift.”
Many students mentioned how they needed a fine arts credit for graduation and pottery was the class they preferred to take for it. Whitwood said, “I took the class cause I needed an art credit and I would rather play with clay.”
Another student, Molly Moua (11) agreed. She said, “I took this class for a fine arts credit. I really like how the class operates and how creative you can express yourself.”
