Winter of the 2024-2025 school year at RAHS had many cancellations and missed days due to weather conditions and mandatory breaks. Students and staff adapted well to the changes.
One of the 10th graders Marlin Mendoza said she likes the breaks but didn’t feel like doing the work assigned over them. “My grades were pretty decent.” said Mendoza, showing that grades can be kept up despite the amount of missed time.
Because of the cancellations time to learn is missed, one of the language teachers Roxanne Theilacker said “students can do Quizlet, look at notes, watch videos, music videos” in order to stay ahead when they return.
Another teacher, Kim Nguyen, gave her opinion on the breaks and how students behave. “I think they have the accountability,” she said, “but the students tend to use the next day to review.” said Nguyen.
Jazmin Anderson (10), another student at RAHS said she would do the trimester again because of the amount of breaks. But because of her after school activities she got no sleep, so she was less energetic and more worn out.
