Winter break is approaching, as well as the new year. Many RAHS students are rejoicing with the upcoming extended break. This year’s break is two weeks as opposed to just one.
With that being said, there are many opportunities and fun things to do during this break, as well as on the holidays. Although, sometimes it can be hard to find activities to engage in, especially in Minnesota during the cold months.
However, it should not be a problem this year considering our drawn out winter break, and the various activities that can be done. It also seems like many RAHS students will be occupied with family and friend related events.
From the two holidays occurring over break it appears that many people will be staying in with their loved ones. Tanner Brenden (11) said, “I plan to spend time with family and friends during the holiday this year. Not any specific plans yet, really.”
It also looks like lots of RAHS students are also not anticipating any special plans yet, more so just enjoying the long break and relaxing with no schoolwork that needs to be done.
Another student at RAHS, Maya Adhikari (11) reports, “Not much is happening this year. I’ll just be with family during the holidays and trying to see friends,” which seems like a recurring theme when hearing about winter break plans.
Though many people are spending time with family members and friends, some are still going to be engaging in school activities. Brenden adds, “I also have basketball practices I’ll need to go to.”
So, although many people will be using this time for relaxation, there are also several other things to be doing for some students. Such as, catching up on some schoolwork or continuing to go to sports practices.
All in all, many students are looking forward to this long awaited rest period, and the approaching holidays for those who celebrate.
