Winter can be an isolating and unmotivating time, and the healing quality of music can be an uplifting escape. Here are some tracks I’ve been loving.

Light of a Clear Blue Morning by Dolly Parton

The message of this song is one I find necessary in the dark, dull midst of winter. In Dolly’s words, “everything’s gonna be alright, gonna be okay.”

Portuguese singer/songwriter MARO provides the perfect cozy and atmospheric vibe with this song. MARO’s music is defined by quiet, complex guitar and smooth, transcendent vocals.  

Mansion by Nina Nesbitt

From her newest album Mountain Music, this song showcases Nesbitt’s ethereal voice. 

Your Girl by Laura Marling

Nothing says winter like Laura Marling’s quiet, sentimental sound. This track is slow and soft, perfect for a winter commute to school.

Most of the Time by Bob Dylan

In anticipation of the upcoming biopic starring Timothée Chalamet, here is a favorite Dylan track of mine.  

The Sweetest Gift by Sade

This a warm, smooth track for when you’re chilling at home over break. This song truly is a sweet gift.
