Such a Fun Age is a story about a young woman experiencing racism in her personal and professional life after she is wrongly accused of kidnapping a young white child.
Reid writes with a very purposeful tone and is strategic with her writing. This story shows one outcome of events like this, whereas in real life not everyone has the support that Emira, the main character, has in the novel.
Reid packs a lot of events and great writing into minimal pages. Don’t take the short novel for granted; it is packed full of heavy real topics. Approach this novel with a brain that is ready to think. Overall Such a Fun Age is very good and I would recommend it.
I give it a 7/10
