Key Club is a fairly new club at RAHS, this being the fifth year it has been running. Key Club is a national club under a parent organization called Kiwanis. Kiwanis is a service dedicated to involving students all over the U.S. and Key Club is the largest student club organization in the country. There are roughly 110 Key Clubs in Minnesota.
Key Club is completely student-led; participants plan both the student staff and the events, according to Key Club’s president Mina Dang. Key Club meets every other Monday and discusses upcoming volunteer opportunities. They try to host at least one service opportunity a week, with some after school and some on the weekends.
One of the Club’s current goals is to include increasing partnership with Roseville Elementary Schools. They have partnered with Edgerton to help out at events and with Central Park to prep materials for teachers. They are hoping to expand and work with more schools as well.
Some examples of service projects Key Club has initiated are: making bookmarks for local libraries, volunteering at Feed My Starving Children, crafting cards for hospitalized kids, cleaning up local parks, and acting as reading buddies for young kids.
Students are welcome to join at any point throughout the year, and at any level of commitment. Key Club encourages members to bring family and friends to events.
